Do you know what are common skin cancer symptoms? Today, skin cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting a large section of the population around the globe. In the United States alone, there are about 1 million new cases diagnosed every year with different types of skin cancer. Skin occurs when your normal cells undergo an unusual transformation and begin multiplying without any control. When cells multiply fast, they form a mass known as a tumor. However, not all tumors are cancerous, they can only be cancerous when they begin to invade neighboring tissues such as the lymph nodes as a result of their uncontrolled growth. Tumors can also spread to other organs through the bloodstream.
1Types of Skin Cancers
Skin cancer is classified into 4 main types of skin cancer which include;
- Melanoma cancer,
- Squamous Cell carcinoma (SCC) and
- Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC).
- Actinic Keratoses (AK) is a fourth, additional form of skin cancer
It’s important to note that the majority of skin cancers are squamous cell carcinomas and basal cell carcinomas. These cancers can cause extensive skin deformation if one doesn’t get treatment early. On the other hand, while there have been a significant number of cases reported it should be made clear that melanoma cancer isn’t as common as basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas. Melanoma cancer is a serious form of cancer which rapidly spreads to other parts of the body and if not checked, can be fatal.
