The thyroid gland is an endocrine gland that plays many roles in our bodies. One of them is directly controlling various hormones such as appetite, sex drive or energy level. However, the thyroid can frequently cause issues.
Thyroid disorder is one of the most common disorders nowadays: approximately 59 million Americans have a thyroid disorder, but the majority of them haven’t even been diagnosed yet!
1Types of Thyroid Disorders:
There are two types of thyroid gland disorder: an overactive (Hyperthyroidism) and an under active gland (Hypothyroidism).
HYPERTHYROIDISM – Overactive Thyroid
Symptoms include:
- Heart palpitations
- Anxiety
- Excess sweating
- Goiter
- Diarrhea
- Muscle weakness
- Weight loss
HYPOTHYROIDISM – Under Active Thyroid
Symptoms include:
- Tiredness
- Cold intolerance
- Baldness
- Depression
- Dry skin/nails/hair
- Irritability
- Excessive weight gain
